Larz-Kristerz

Swedish dansband Lars-Kristerz rose to fame in 2008 on the television show Dansbandskampen and experienced chart-topping success the following year with the album Hem Till Dig. Founded in 2001 in Älvdalen, Sweden, the band is comprised of Stefan Nykvist (vocals, piano, accordion), Peter Larsson (vocals, rhythm guitar), Kent Lindén (vocals, accordion, organ), Trond Korsmoe (lead guitar), Morgan Korsmoe (bass), Mikael Eriksson (drums), and Torbjörn Eriksson (organ). Lars-Kristerz made their album debut in 2003 with Stuffparty 1, followed by Stuffparty 2 in 2004 and Stuffparty 3 in 2007. In 2008 the band appeared on Dansbandskampen, on which it competed against other dansbands and finished as the show's first-place winner. Upon winning first place in the show's season finale in December 2008, the band was offered a major-label recording contract with Sony Music. In 2009 Lars-Kristerz made their major-label debut with the single "Carina," a chart-topping hit that the band had previously performed in the season finale episode of Dansbandskampen. The likewise chart-topping album Hem Till Dig (2009) was released shortly thereafter and spawned the follow-up hit single "Purple Rain," a cover version of Prince's 1984 smash hit that the band had also performed in the season finale episode of Dansbandskampen. Other curious choices of cover material on Hem Till Dig include Guns N' Roses' "Sweet Child o' Mine," Stevie Wonder's "Yester-Me, Yester-You, Yesterday," and Twisted Sister's "We're Not Going to Take It."
