Julie Hanney
Julie Hanney is a pianist, composer, arranger, and teacher with a soothing and relaxing style that combines elements of new age, jazz, and contemporary classical music. Based out of Bend, Oregon, Hanney released her debut album, Painting in Sound, in 2019.
Hanney took to the arts at a very young age, having been introduced to the piano at the age of five by her music teacher grandmother. After earning a music degree from the University of Oregon she began arranging and composing for various choirs, quartets, and collectives, and eventually started laying the groundwork for what would become her debut album. Released in 2019, Painting in Sound took inspiration from artists like George Winston and Erik Satie and helped to establish Hanney as an important new figure in the solo instrumentalist scene. Later that year she issued the seasonal outing A Peace-Filled Christmas, and in 2021 she unveiled her third long-player, Where the Ocean Meets the Sky.
