Cornelia Froboess (October 28, 1943), better known as Conny Froboess, is a German singer, actress, and former teen idol who built a successful career through a series of hit singles during the 1950s and 1960s. Born in the town of Wriezen, she made her official recording debut as Die Kleine Cornelia (“The Little Cornelia”) at the age of 8 with the single “Pack die Badehose ein” (1951), a song originally written by her father for a children's choir. As she continued to grow and hone her craft, she began performing under the name Conny Froboess and reached the pinnacle of her fame with the single “Zwei kleine Italiener,” which was selected to represent Germany at the 1962 Eurovision Song Contest in Luxembourg City. Despite finishing in sixth place, the song was later released as a single and became a Number 1 hit in Germany, where it sold over 1 million copies and received gold certification. Conny Froboess capitalized on the global rock'n'roll craze for the remainder of the decade with singles like "I Love You Baby, Lippenstift Am Jacket" and "Teenager Melodie," and collaborated with numerous artists, most notably fellow singer and actor Peter Kraus. In the subsequent decades, she fully devoted herself to acting, appearing in numerous films, stage plays, and TV shows.
