Christian Wallumrød Ensemble
Born in Kongsberg, Buskerud, Norway on April 26, 1971, Christian Wallumrød is a jazz pianist, keyboardist, and composer who is referred to as one of the most prominent young Norwegian musicians of his generation. Working as a professional musician and composer since 1992, he collaborated with several different artists – including the trio Close Erase and Airamero – before he started a career as a solo artist and bandleader. Working in different group formations, he’s composed and performed music of great variety and atmosphere. One of his most successful projects is the Christian Wallumrød Ensemble, who issued their first album, Sofienberg Variations, on ECM in 2003. The group also released A Year from Easter (2005), The Zoo Is Far (2007), Fabula Suite Lugano (2009), Outstairs (2013), Kurzam and Folger (2016) and Many (2020). Outside of the Christian Wallumrød Ensemble, he has continued to release solo projects and albums with Dans les Arbres, Brutter, and the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra.
