Thanks to the brilliant label Omnivore Recordings, Peter Holsapple returns with a beautiful solo album: Game Day.

After having toured with REM and Hootie & The Blowfish, the ex-singer of The dB’s and his partner Chris Stamey haven’t stopped working. Collaborations have always been topical and countless. After sharing the studio with John Hiatt, Indigo Girls, the Troggs, the Cowsills, Better Than Ezra and many others, the American shows that he is just as talented on his own, something he hasn't done in almost two decades!

At 62, Holsapple doesn’t waste time with anecdotal songs. Without seeking originality, he goes straight to the essential. With a Neil Young sound and rock à la Big Star, he carries with him a whole musical era without ever sounding outdated and we find here an album that juggles with his various rock influences. Even if he does dare to declare himself “born without a voice” on The Smartest Thing I’ve Ever Done, Peter Holsapple certainly wasn’t born without a gift for songwriting.
