The sixteenth album from the indestructible Iron Maiden…

Recorded at Guillaume Tell studios in Paris in late 2014, The Book Of Souls, finally released on September 4th 2015, is a new work of gargantuan proportions by the British kings of metal. Without needing to add new flourishes – no dubstep or free jazz this time around – Bruce Dickinson manages to refine his band’s signature sound once again. This is a brand of metal in which the guitars truly sparkle. Working with their long-time producer Kevin ‘Caveman’ Shirley, Iron Maiden have treated their audience to eleven new songs, and more than 90 minutes of new music! 40 years into their storied career, The Book Of Souls is the first double album by the British band! This is a new innovation for them, alongside the fact that, for the first time ever, this album displays writing credits for all members of the band. Bassist Steve Harris wrote seven tracks; six of them alongside the group’s guitarists. It is also the first time since 1984’s Powerslave that two songs were written by Bruce Dickinson himself. Harris had this to say about the album: ‘We started recording it with a different approach. Most tracks were written while we were in the studio, and we recorded there and then while they were fresh, to keep momentum going. I think this immediacy can really be felt in the songs, which really do live side by side.' All said, this is an album for the fans: old and new.
