Kaleidoscopic Beyond The Wizards Sleeve

Behind the smokescreen of the improbably named Beyond The Wizards Sleeve, hide a couple of old hands from the British electro scene: Erol Alkan and Richard Norris. Seeing as they both like to experiment, this alternative banner lets them move towards a more rock inspired, more psychedelic direction. After the Beyond the Wizards Sleeve Ark album in 2008, that brought together four EPs, they’ve now revived the venture with Soft Bounce, and a new kind of psyched-up electro, sometimes pop, sometimes just plain mad, that features Blaine Harrison from the Mystery Jets, Euros Childs from Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci, Jane Weaver, Holly Miranda, and Hannah Peel. Not just a crazy madhouse of songs however, there’s time for a farandole and more than a nod towards 60s Pink Floyd, 70s Krautrock, and 80s new wave. It’s a 360° spin like no other.
