Julia Holter, as if by magic…

With each new album, Julia Holter builds upon and refines her ethereal musical madness. When she channels it in the right way, Holter’s voice is a voice from beyond. Her melodies themselves are languorous, yet always airborne, lifting upwards softly into the ether… Holter creates song-worlds that are reminiscent of her contemporary Julianna Barwick; both musicians stack soft electronica in the construction of endless dreamscapes. One feels that the spirits of Laurie Anderson, Kate Bush, and even Joanna Newsom are not far removed from what the Californian has to offer her listeners. On September 25th, through Domino, Holter will release her fourth album, Have You In My Wilderness. She has already given us a tempting slice of this album through the single Feel You, accompanied by an excellent video from Jose Wolff, a frequent collaborator of the L.A based songstress…
