After his 2010 masterpiece Swim, Dan Snaith, aka Caribou, has released a new magical opus of refined electro: Our Love, which is inherently groovy yet never over-indulgent. From the first track, Can’t Do Without You, the subject's disarming simplicity, mixed with its rhythmical purity, gives the record a good vibe. Snaith is not looking to reinvent himself, but rather to perfect his own art. The bass is incredibly supple, his experimenations never crippling (sometimes reminding you of Arthur Russell), his passion for 80s sounds is never excessive, and his indie vision of the dancefloor still lies at the heart of his work. With Our Love, Snaith explores electro that is more alternative, yet always there to move the body. Indeed the body is the centre of attention in the beautiful music video of the eponymous track, Our Love, directed by Ryan Staake from the production company Brooklyn Pomp&Clout, who has already worked on the videos of Alt-J, A-Trak, Booka Shade, Major Lazer and Diplo.
