With Un Millon De Rosas, lead vocalist Oscar Gonzalez changed his name to Oscar De La Rosa and made it part of the group's name -- hence, the band was now officially called Oscar De La Rosa & La Mafia. Underneath those surface changes, the music of La Mafia remains the same. Based in conjunto and cumbia, the group's music is a slick, pop-oriented fusion that relies as much on producer Mando Lichtenberger Jr.'s studio savvy as it does on De La Rosa's soulful vocals. Whether the band is tackling mariachi or tear-jerking ballads ("Mejores Que Ella," recorded with Marc Anthony), La Mafia pulls it off with grace, style, and professionalism, making Un Millon De Rosas an essential purchase for Latin fans.
