Virginia native James King's Rounder debut is a solid set of bluegrass in the tradition of the Stanley Brothers and other '50s bluegrass icons both famous and obscure. The stellar backup band includes several former members of the Johnson Mountain Boys. King's vocals are emotional, soulful and just right, and Dudley Connell adds a strong tenor vocal to most of the songs.
