It's been a long time since Lynn has made a satisfying album, although she's given it a shot a few times. While this isn't flawless, it's a step in the right direction. The material isn't merely remakes or soul covers, but also includes a good version of Babyface's "I Love You Babe." Of course, Lynn couldn't desert classic soul, and she gives solid treatments to her own hit "This Is The Thanks I Get" and Tyrone Davis' "Can I Change My Mind." The familiar guitar riffs buttress her vocals, which still sound authoritative, even if the range and luster aren't quite as arresting.
