Following the album featuring the Cello Concerto "Canti Amadei" by Krzysztof Meyer, Bartosz Koziak releases another programme, this time with music by Bohuslav Martinů. This is yet another studio meeting of the Polish cellist with Martinů’s music after the very well-received recording of the composer’s Duo for Violin and Cello with Anna Maria Staśkiewicz.

The interpretation of Martinů’s Cello Concerto No. 2 performed by Bartosz Koziak and the Ostrava Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Peter Popelka differs significantly from the canonical recording of Raphael Wallfisch under the baton of Jirí Belohlávek or from the newer performance of Christian Poltéra and Thomas Dausgaard – Koziak and Popelka have chosen tempi that are closer to those originally written down by the composer; in addition, the cellist has registered the complete cadenza without the usual cuts. Thanks to this new album, you can check how Martinů’s music sounds in the original interpretations of Bartosz Koziak, pianist Radosław Kurek and the Ostrava Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Peter Popelka. © DUX Records
