Though somewhat less appealing than its two predecessors, the third and last Boyce & Hart album does have some diverting music, beginning with the paired gospel-flavored "Change" and "Maybe Somebody Heard," the spirited pop/rock title track, and the Monkees-influenced "Strawberry Girl" (which sounds like "Valleri" crossed with a beat lifted from the Outsiders' "Time Won't Let Me"). Their slow version of "Jumping Jack Flash" is an acquired taste, but the crunchy fuzztone guitar that dominates "Thanks for Sunday" is something new for the duo, and the catchy closer "Alice Long" (which sounds like a lost Monkees track) also holds some interest. Little here is quite as surprising as the best work on Test Patterns or matches the standard of perfection achieved on I Wonder What She's Doing Tonight, but it still has a lot to offer fans of late-'60s California pop/rock.
