This James retrospective features all but three of the singles the band recorded for the Mercury label. At 20 tracks, it's a respectable slab of music that's punctuated by some powerful material like "Sit Down," "Sometimes," and "Laid," making it a great entry point for listeners just getting into the Manchester, England-based alternative rock collective. Fresh as a Daisy: The Singles also comes in a two-disc package called The Complete Singles Collection 1983-2007, which features singles from the group's days with Sire and Factory, along with 20 Mercury cuts.
