A collection brings together the first two of the four albums the Flamingos recorded for George Goldner's End Records onto one compact disc. Recorded between 1958 to 1961, this runs both albums back to back with their original running orders. Flamingo Serenade was originally issued in 1960 and features the then-novel concept of an R&B vocal group tackling old standards, including what has become the Flamingos' signature tune, "I Only Have Eyes for You." Their second album for the label included here, Flamingo Favorites, was released in 1960 and was issued in both mono and stereo formats. But while the new tracks were recorded in stereo, the album also included old mono masters rechanneled in fake stereo; this reissue keeps the actual stereo masters in place and replaces the fakes with the original mono masters. Four of the tunes aboard were originally issued as singles ("Heavenly Angel," "Besame Mucho," "Mio Amore" and "Dream Girl") on End between 1959 and 1961, but the other eight songs originate with this long player. One of the smoothest doo wop groups at their peak.
