Boombastic, while not consistently exciting, sure has its moments, especially when Little John isn't indulging in some treacly love song ("Love Mi Lady") or smarmy jive ("Young Girl Business"). He's at his best when the songs have a political tinge, like the title track, or when he's not overloading on the bullsh*t. The Roots Radics' band are alternately loose and wobbly, or tight and muscular...you can't ask for much more. John, however, is a different story. As producer Winston "Niney" Hotness says of John, "All what him love is him girls and him music." Which is great, but if he had something else to offer, his subject matter wouldn't sound so thin after 40 minutes.
