Founded in Alabama in the 1940s by Howard and Gussie Mae Goodman, the Goodmans (also known as the Goodman Family, the Happy Goodman Family, and the Happy Goodmans) developed into a classic gospel quartet with a lineup of Ruth, Sam, Rusty, and Bob Goodman, later joined by Vestal Goodman and the only non-Goodman family member, tenor Johnny Cook. This set, which is the same as the release entitled Icon, features the group performing its best-known songs at concert venues like the Ryman Auditorium, the Georgia Dome, Tarrant Convention Hall, Bethel Tabernacle, and the Whitewell Metropolitan Tabernacle, and live in the Gaither Studios.
