Brief opening track “Let’s Have an Earthquake” announces Vanna’s second album with a stuttering hardcore breakdown blast. Both mission statement and first swing, the track sets the tone for all that follow. Vanna have been honing their craft since their debut, CURSES, and it shows--the balance between uplift and crushing heaviness they achieve is what so many “screamo” bands are trying to get at. “Into Hell’s Mouth We March” is raw with emotion and melodic, but still muscular; on a song like “Thrashmouth” however, the band just plays down and dirty.
