Fans of country music, especially fans of Western swing, will want to add this collection album to the spots they save for the music they play the most. Asleep at the Wheel recorded the album 23 Country Classics in early 2001. This offering is a celebration of Texas dancehall style. You'll find several old favorites here, many flavored with jazz, honky tonk, rock, boogie, and R&B -- all coated with the energetic touch that this Grammy-winning group adds to its work. Some of the outstanding tracks on 23 Country Classics are "Bump Bounce Boogie," "Lay Down Sally," "Cherokee Boogie," "She Came to Dance," and "Still Water Runs the Deepest." It should be noted that a lot of the numbers have been spiced up into dance versions.
