The Gramophone Awards Ceremony is the most prestigious classical music awards ceremony in the world. It gathers together the most talented international classical musicians in a splendid celebration of classical music in all of its many forms. This year, the ceremony will take place on September 17th. For the second year in a row, it will be hosted by the renowned concert hall of St John?s Smith Square, Westminster, London.
The awards are interspersed with live performances from award winners: previous years saw performances from Alison Balson, Benjamin Grosvenor and Xuefei Yang. This year?s shortlist looks equally impressive, including such names as Edward Gardner, Mahan Esfahani, and Christiane Karg, who are all nominated for the coveted Artist of the Year award. There is also particularly stiff competition in the Instrumental category, where Esfahani is up against the likes of Grigory Sokolov, and Piotr Anderszewski. For those of you who are dying to attend? hope is not lost!

A word of introduction and some details regarding this year's Award Ceremony from the Editor-in-Chief of Gramophone, for those who may not be familiar with proceedings:
"One of London's loveliest Baroque churches, built in 1714, St John's Smith Square, Westminster will play host to the 2015 Gramophone Classical Music Awards. The evening will start in the vault crypt with drinks at 5.45pm. At 6.45pm the Awards will take place in the church, a galleried nave with a beautiful acoustic often used for concerts and recordings. The 12 recording category awards will presented and will be interspersed by the special awards for Lifetime Achievement, Artist of the Year and Young Artist of the Year. A host of today's finest artists will be joining us and we'll be treated to some unique performances. At the end of the awards ceremony, dinner will be served and the evening will conclude at midnight. This year should be a very special occasion with a veritably stellar line-up of the greatest musicians of our time."
