Wake up!

Dear Qobuz readers,

On Thursday, August 22nd, 2019, the Cheshire-based pop-rock band The 1975 released a video for their latest single, People. It features Matthew Healey, the singer and frontman of the outfit, with straight, jet-black hair, in various jumpsuits and costumes. More interestingly, though, the music: Peopleis 3 short minutes of no-nonsense hard rock, with Healey screaming "Wake up!" until his vocal cords are shot. Here is a sample of the lyrics from the song:

"Wake up, wake up, wake up

We are appalling and we need to stop just watching shit in bed

And I know it sounds boring and we like things that are funny

But we need to get this in our fucking heads

The economy's a goner, republic's a banana, ignore it if you wanna"

Going by the band's previous single, which featured Greta Thunberg, the young climate activist, the theme of The 1975's next album, Notes on a Conditional Form, out February 2nd, 2020, is quite clearly global warming. We can't wait to hear the rest of the album!
