Whether you’re heading to festival or just playing along at home, Qobuz is hosting a showcase at The Great Escape to bring you a taste of the best in new music.

The Great Escape Festival holds a pivotal place in every music enthusiast’s schedule. Over several days on the south coast of the UK, Brighton’s streets pulsate with energy as emerging talent from across the globe captivates audiences in various venues throughout the city. This year, Qobuz is delighted to contribute to the festivities by sponsoring our own showcase of exciting new talent.

DARTZ - Aotearoa / New Zealand

Conceived by Danz and his friend Crispy, DARTZ found themselves miraculously booked to open for Australian pub-rockers The Chats at their Wellington show - despite neither the band nor the setlist actually existing. With just two weeks to spare, the pair hastily assembled DARTZ, recruiting Hokpa on drums and Clark on bass to complete the lineup. The rest, as they say, is history. DARTZ delivers high-octane South Pacific punk rock, infused with the loveable larrikin energy New Zealanders and Aussies are known for. From absolute head-banger tracks to mature, realistic and relatable lyrics, the DARTZ boys understand a good time, and their set is not one to be missed.

Alien Chicks - United Kingdom

Emerging from South London’s legendary Brixton Windmill scene, Alien Chicks unleashes intense and frenetic critiques of modern society on the audience. Their eclectic fusion of everything from jazz and rap to bossa nova and math rock embodies the distinct edge that is characteristic of London’s new generation of punk bands. Surreal social commentary delivered over punchy rhythms and angular sounds, encapsulating the zeitgeist of London’s youth. Alien Chicks masterfully blend satire with brutal British honesty, promising a wildly energetic live performance.

Chubby Cat - Republic of Ireland

Quickly capturing the scene with her distinct fusion of edgy electronic pop, Chubby Cat, originally from Cork and now based in Belfast, has solidified her position as a leading figure in Ireland’s electro-pop scene. As a proud queer artist, her remarkable vocal prowess glides over gritty electronics and catchy pop beats, offering a glimpse into the future of electro-pop. Drawing from a wide range of sonic inspirations, from hyperpop to UK garage and soul, Chubby Cat’s relatable lyrics resonate deeply while maintaining a fun edge. Her soaring vocals and captivating live energy are sure to be on full display at the showcase.

Phoebe Hall - United Kingdom

Phoebe Hall is swiftly carving her place as one of the most thrilling pop artists in the UK scene. Embracing her identity without reservation, she fearlessly delves into her experiences and queerness with remarkable candour, injecting fresh vitality into the alt-pop landscape. Her music combines bold sonic landscapes with lyrically poignant narratives, capturing the spirit of youthful revelry. From stripped-back, raw compositions to pulsating pop anthems, Phoebe promises to be an electrifying presence on stage.
