Lou Canon
Idioma disponible: inglésLou Canon (real name Leanne Greyerbiehl) is a Canadian multi-instrumentalist and alternative/indie pop singer/songwriter known for her lush, ethereal electronics and atmospheric compositions. Based in Toronto, she became closely associated with the city's burgeoning bedroom electronic scene and earned critical acclaim for her second album, 2017's Suspicious. The ambitious semi-concept album, Audomatic Body, appeared three years later, marking a creative peak for Canon. Originally an elementary school teacher, Greyerbiehl took an active interest in and pursued songwriting, composition, and music production in her free time. When her brother-in-law, indie folk artist Hayden, offered her the use of his home recording studio, she made the most of it, and the creative sessions ultimately resulted in her eponymous debut album (as Lou Canon), which was released on Hayden's own label, Hardwood Records, in 2011. Canon performed guest vocals on Hayden's 2013 record Us Alone, and subsequently went on tour with him in support of that album. She signed with Paper Bag Records, which released her sophomore effort, Suspicious, in early 2017. Co-produced by Mark Lawson (Arcade Fire, Basia Bulat) the record earned praise for its unique brand of sparse and downtempo bedroom electronica and sleek, moody vibe. The standalone single "Uncover the Lover" appeared in 2018, after which Canon returned to the studio to begin work on her third LP. Recorded partly with Lawson in Montreal and partly on her own at various locations around Canada, the songs on 2020's Audomatic Body coalesce around a central theme regarding the evolution and changing nature of relationships. In a unique twist, Canon adopted the theatrical mechanism of the Greek Chorus to add commentary to the album's recurring motifs and concepts threaded throughout its ten intimate tracks.
