Joseph Kamel

Born in Egypt to an Egyptian father, an international consultant, and a French mother, a humanitarian doctor, Joseph Kamel developed his dual cultural roots through music, playing the piano and oud from the age of eight. He was fourteen when his family left Cairo for Caen in the Calvados region of France, where they settled. The young musician then tried to take part in The Voice, la plus belle voix, but was unsuccessful at the audition stage. In 2013, Joseph Kamel unveiled his first compositions through a homonymous debut EP nourished by French chanson, folk, urban pop and electro, from which "Dis-moi " was taken. He then made a name for himself by performing this track on the short-lived TV show The Artist, dedicated to discovering new singer-songwriter talent. The artist, who stands over 2 meters tall and wears a turquoise blue beanie at all times, is best known for his deep, gravelly voice. His performance earned him a place in the final of the competition. In 2022, he released a new EP, Rendez-Vous, which again included the song that had made him a household name, as well as other tracks such as "Et alors", "Premier rendez-vous" and "Vieux", on which he was accompanied by Daysy. In 2023, Joseph Kamel collaborated with singer Charlie on "Je t'emmène", then, a month later, unveiled "15 ans" . That same year, the single "Celui qui part" made its chart debut, reaching No. 5 in Belgium and No. 52 in France. This single from the debut album Miroirs (No. 74 in France) was followed by "Beau", featuring Julien Doré.
