El cuarto álbum de la banda británica de pop rock es el sucesor de Perfect Symmetry, de 2008. Strangeland combina el uso de guitarras y la fina sensibilidad pop de su predecesor con el sonido épico de piano característico de los dos primeros álbumes de la banda, en particular Under the Iron Sea. Sin preocuparse por ponerse plazos, la banda decidió trabajar en el álbum todo el tiempo que fuera necesario hasta obtener un resultado que los dejara plenamente satisfechos.
