Cuando los Stone Temple Pilots se volvieron a juntar en 2010 retomaron su carrera en el mismo punto en que la habían dejado, ya que conservaron el carácter cortante y más duro de Shangri-La Dee Da y la vez equilibraron sus fanfarronadas con las melodías dándole al conjunto un toque muy profesional. De este modo consiguieron ofrecer todo lo que se esperaba de ellos, salvo un ingrediente fundamental: Brendan O'Brien, que había producido todos los discos del grupo hasta entonces. Puede que con un par más de oídos en el estudio estas alusiones se hubieran refinado, y puede que el conjunto estuviera más pulido, apuntalado por un par de sencillos emergentes y con cierto sentido de evolución en las texturas; no obstante, tal y como es, Stone Temple Pilots es un disco bueno y sólido, y sirve como prueba involuntaria de que estos chicos se necesitan unos a otros.
