Este tierno recopilatorio recoge casi tres docenas de las grabaciones más memorables de uno de los grandes del jazz desde 1934 hasta 1967. Comenzando con el omnipresente éxito póstumo de Armstrong "What a Wonderful World", la vertiente pop del trompetista y vocalista sólo se advierte en los cuatro primeros temas, todos ellos de los años 60. El resto del álbum es un esclarecedor viaje a través de tres décadas de la música de este clásico artista de Nueva Orleans y se centra en la voz de Armstrong, excepcionalmente ronca a pesar de la constante exposición de sus dientes. Como los mejores intérpretes, Armstrong apenas compuso canciones, pero supo infundir emoción y credibilidad incluso con las letras más trilladas. Y aunque la característica voz de Armstrong está presente en todas las canciones, también hay mucho espacio para la improvisación musical en todo el álbum.
