A comienzos de la década de los 70, David Bowie no era era el único empeñado en orientar el rock y el pop hacia los excesos y desmesuras del glam. Con Roxy Music, el género seguiría incluso una dirección inédita y todavía más exagerada si cabe. Sin duda, los integrantes de la atípica formación británica liderada por Bryan Ferry, neo-dandi e improbable crooner, tenía algo que ver en ello. De entrada, en Roxy Music se congregaban una serie de freaks amantes de las experimentaciones de todo tipo y de las vanguardias más desaforadas.
En 1972 aparecía el primer álbum epónimo, y por completo inclasificable, de esta banda tan sofisticada como barriobajera. Brian Eno tocando todas las teclas de sus sintes. Andy Mackay haciendo locuras con su saxo. ¡Y Phil Manzanera maltratando sus guitarras a manera de serial killer dedicado a oscuras actividades de desmembramiento! Para conmemorar los 45 años del aterrizaje de tan extraño ovni se nos presenta la remasterización de rigor del disco original, a la que se añade una BBC Session bastante sabrosa. La mejor excusa para redescubrir este abrasivo ejercicio de perversión del rock&roll.
