Considerando la suerte de muchos de los protagonistas de sus canciones, no es de extrañar que Los Tigres del Norte quisieran grabar un álbum en vivo en la prisión de Folsom, tal como hiciera Johnny Cash hace 50 años, más aún teniendo en cuenta que en 2018 casi la mitad de sus presos son hispanos. El grupo ofreció dos recitales, uno en el sector de hombres y otro en el de mujeres, seleccionando de su amplio repertorio aquellas canciones con las cuales los reclusos y reclusas pudieran sentirse más identificados, además de interpretar en español el famoso "Folsom Prison Blues" del mencionado Cash. El disco fue lanzado en conjunción con un documental sobre el concierto, en el que también se describe la vida de la comunidad latina de la prisión.
