Six months after releasing his acclaimed second album Holding on to a Dream, Sir Was has brought out its little brother with this four-track maxi, composed in the same place: a hut in the Swedish countryside. It's a change of mood that has shaped the sound of the Scandinavian revelation. After having to play louder on his first LP to cover the noise of the nearby tram, Joel Wästberg was finally able to work in silence, and therefore more delicately. And you can hear the change clearly on this EP, which develops its airy side, with the super-catchy Letter, an awesome stripped-down cosmic pop song that belongs somewhere between Tame Impala and Breakbot. Coming in on its heels, This Is My Bonus and Don't Wait for Me plough their “lo-fi psychedelia” furrow through the superposition of quilted synths over nonchalantly spoken-chanted choruses, giving the impression of Sir Was hovering over his own music.
