No hubiera sido una sorpresa si Collective Soul hubiera saltado a la fama con un solo éxito. A caballo entre la línea del ámbito rock de los 80 y el tintineante pop alternativo de los 90, su debut fue muy bien acogido y se convirtió en un éxito multi-platino. No alteraron ese sonido en Collective Soul, pero los resultados se disfrutan igualmente gracias a las pegadizas melodías del grupo. Los éxitos incluyeron la pegadiza "Gel", la sarcástica de medio tiempo "December" y la encantadora balada "The World I Know", pero todo lo demás es igual de bueno, desde la marchosa "Where the River Flows" hasta "Reunion", tintada de gospel.
