Apoyándose todavía más en una estética combinada de post-punk con prog-rock que en sus dos primeros álbumes, Kings of Leon ha creado un trabajo más oscuro, menos orientado al pop y algo cerebral con Because of the Times de 2007. Si Alan Parsons alquiló su nave espacial a los Allman Brothers, Because of the Times sería la odisea espacial resultante.
