Chesca

Chesca is a pop singer from Puerto Rico based in Los Angeles. Her open, emotive alto voice weaves together Latin pop, reggaeton, soul, hip-hop, and R&B seemingly effortlessly. Deeply influenced by Michael and Janet Jackson as a child, she began musical training in several arts and music academies. At 11 she began singing professionally with her father's cover band Flashback. While playing a large party with Flashback, a Sony record executive heard her and inquired about signing her. Before that could transpire, however, she was critically injured in a boating accident. Her recovery required months in the hospital and 14 reconstructive surgeries over several years. Chesca kept singing with her father's band as it kept her mind away from her reality. She was brutally bullied at school and in the streets, but not on-stage, where she performed wearing a massive, stylish hat that hid her condition. Chesca underwent her final surgery at 21 and decided to give music a serious shot. She moved first to Miami where she won a gig singing lead for the PCD Burlesque Review. She also released her debut solo single, "Azucar," in 2018. She moved to Los Angeles and joined forces with Gustavo Lopez, chairman and CEO of Saban Music Group, and he made her vision a reality. In 2019 she teamed up with Pitbull, Giorgio Moroder, and Raney Shockne for the single "La Reina de Blanco" on Mr. 305 Records. Lopez, a former Universal executive, helped Chesca hone her sound and expand her vocal range. 2020 netted her the charting singles "Deja de Hablar" ft. Jon Z, and "Te Quiero Baby" with Pitbull and the Four Seasons' Frankie Valli. That year, Chesca was also featured during Pitbull's four-song performance at the Premio Nuestro awards alongside John Travolta and Jon Z. She had her first number one with "Subelo" ft. Pitbull, Static, and Ben El; it was just one of eight singles and videos she issued in 2021. Others included "El Cambio (Mariachi)" feat. Grupo Firme, "Como Tu" ft. De la Ghetto and Offset, and "Tu Weekend." She kicked off 2022 with "TuTuRu," and in June issued two remixed versions of the track (pop and reggaeton) with Nio Garcia. "Piensas en Mi," with Alejo, appeared in August. In October, Chesca, Villano Antillano, and Corina Smith issued the feminist neo-electro club anthem "Activa."
