Mélissa Mars
Despite her effective, radio-friendly pop compositions, Melissa Mars initially remained unknown to the general public, her first two albums, in 2003 and 2005, meeting with only relative success. The musical career of this sweet ingénue from Marseilles seemed to gain momentum in 2006, thanks to her duet with Pascal Obispo, "1980", one of the hits of the year. But, relatively shunned by the critics and not helped by the rarity of her live performances, she failed to find an audience. A tour in 2008 could give a boost to this talented artist with a well-defined universe, closer perhaps to Emilie Simon - though considerably less "experimental" - than to Alizée, to whom she has been hastily compared.
