Matt Champion

Ascending from the underground to the top of the charts, Texas-bred rapper, singer, and songwriter Matt Champion is best known as a member of the hip-hop boy band Brockhampton. Following eight albums, the group disbanded, and he made his solo debut with the 2024 LP Mika's Laundry. Born Matthew Garrett Champion and raised in The Woodlands, Texas, the young artist met his future Brockhampton bandmates while still in high school. In addition to the eight LPs created with Brockhampton from 2017 to 2022 -- one of which, Iridescence, hit number one in the U.S. in 2018 -- he also appeared on releases by Kevin Abstract (2014's MTV1987), Young Lungs (2016's Contradiction), and the Blossom (2021's 97 Blossom). Once the group split in 2022, he shifted focus to his own music. The first taste arrived in 2024 in the form of "Aphid," which featured singer Dijon. After releasing the soulful "Slug," Champion issued a high-profile collaboration with BlackPink's Jennie titled "Slow Motion." All three tracks were included on Mika's Laundry. Produced by Champion, Dijon, and Henry Kwapis, the album also featured input by some of the Brockhampton crew, including Romil and Bearface.
