Father You See Queen

After the dark, Minneapolis-based dream pop duo To Kill a Petty Bourgeoisie disbanded when vocalist Jehna Wilhelm moved to Seattle to continue her studies, producer Mark McGee began collaborating with a number of other local projects, including the improvisational group Votel (formerly H.U.N.X.) and Marijuana Deathsquads. Initially looking to continue To Kill a Petty Bourgeoisie with a different vocalist, McGee connected with singer/songwriter Nicole "Mona" Tollefson, who had been working on her own material which she had sent to a mutual friend. During their collaboration, the pair realized their music was moving in a poppier, minimal direction, and gave their project a name of its own. Father You See Queen made some of their songs available online in 2010 while playing the occasional show that year and in 2011; after signing to Chicago's indie label Flingco, their debut EP 47 was streamed online a few months ahead of its April 2012 release.
