Horror, misfortune, a blonde Englishwoman who sings reggae. The idea seems incongruous, even blasphemous, and Ava Leigh has more trouble passing for a new Marcia Griffiths than Amy Winehouse for the reincarnation of Billie Holiday. Yet her tracks "La, La, La" and "Mad About the Boy" are convincing, thanks to the presence of Sly & Robbie, Future Cut and Nick Mannaseh. Only her next album will dispel any doubts or, on the contrary, demonstrate any possible deception.
