The Weepers
The Weepers are an alternative country/folk band from Lansing, MI, that are steeped in traditional instrumentation (fiddle, dobro, mandolin, string bass, etc.). Their albums cover a wide berth of styles: bluegrass, country, Celtic, old-timey, Western swing, surf, and pop. The group, which consists of primary songwriter Drew Howard (vocals, acoustic/pedal steel guitars), songwriter Tahmineh Gueramy (fiddle and vocals), Mike Cutler (mandolin and mandocello), Steve Szilagyi (bass), and Pat Bills (drums), released their debut album, Bitter Anger Constant Fear, in 1999, following that with 2001's House of Love. The latter was recorded in East Lansing, MI, and featured guest appearances from such like-minded area artists as Andy Wilson of Steppininit (on harmonica) and Mike Lynch of the Lash (on accordion).
