Jack Dupon
Jack Dupon is an art rock quintet from France's Auvergne region. Their guitar-based sound crisscrosses 21st century prog, math rock, improvisation, post-punk, and prog metal. Their fictional namesake travels through time, changing the soul of the world. As evidenced by L'Africain Disparu, their 2006 three-track debut long-player, they wed driving guitar rock to spiraling improvisation, sans vocals. Guitarists Gregory Pozzoli and Philip Prebet are balanced by the rhythm section of drummer Thomas Larsen and bassist Arnaud M'Doihoma. They introduced their loopy brand of absurdist art punk vocals (from all members) on 2008's L'échelle du Désir. Touring hard over the next several years, the band won many European fans, as evidenced by the popularity of 2012's double live Bascule à vif and 2013's loopy studio effort Jesus L'Aventurier. They returned to live recording with 2014's Tête de Chien, composed of all new material. 2016's Empty Full Circulation was their first offering sung completely in English, and reflected a debt of inspiration to Frank Zappa. 2021's La République Dominicale du Zoo was a syncopated concept offering drenched in surrealism, neo-psychedelia, and Pere Ubu-esque post-punk.
