Echo And The Bunnymen
Née à Liverpool en 1978 autour de Will Sergeant (guitare) et Ian McCulloch (chant), la formation britannique Echo & the Bunnymen apparaît avec une formule mêlant post-punk lugubre et accents psychédéliques héritiers des Doors, déclinée en 1980 sur Crocodiles, premier album initiant une série de publications saluées comme Heaven Up Here (1981) ou Ocean Rain (1984), toujours plus élégantes et égrainant un nombre considérable de singles, de "Rescue" à "Bring On the Dancing Horses" en passant par "The Cutter", "Back of Love", "Seven Seas" ou le cultissime "The Killing Moon", compilés en 1985 sur Songs to learn and Sing. Si McCulloch quitte le navire en 1988 au profit de sa carrière solo, il réintègre les rangs du projet en 1997, marquant l'ouverture d'un second chapitre tout aussi productif pour le groupe.
