Cloak
A riff-forward and groove-laden extreme metal crew from America's Deep South, Cloak emerged in 2015 with an aggressive sound that draws on elements of gothic, sludge, doom, and classic blackened Scandinavian death metal.
Based out of Atlanta, Georgia, and comprised of vocalist/guitarist Scott Taysom, guitarist Max Brigham, drummer Sean Bruneau, and bassist Billy Robinson, the band issued an eponymous EP in 2016. Pairing the sonic onslaught of heavy music legends like Watain and Dissection, the EP caught the attention of Season of Mist, which signed the group the following year. The hard-hitting full-length To Venomous Depths arrived in 2017, with the band's sophomore long-player, the inventive and incendiary Burning Dawn, coming in late 2019. Cloak dug deep into their DNA for album number three, adding the raw power of Motörhead and the dark grooves of Danzig to their blackened death metal attack. Released in 2023, Black Flame Eternal saw the band embrace the full scope of extreme metal and its freewheeling, rebellious nature.
