Augusta McKay Lodge
American violinist Augusta McKay Lodge specializes in early music, playing both Baroque and modern violins in historically informed performances. Born in Oberlin, Ohio, McKay Lodge began music lessons at age three and later became a student at the Moscow Central Special Music School. Her teachers included Alexander Kerr, Stanley Ritchie, Marilyn McDonald, Milan Vitek, Johannes Leertouwer, Sophie Gent, and Almita Vamos. While still a teenager, McKay Lodge attended Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where she received her Bachelor of Music degree at age 19 and honors from Phi Kappa Lambda. In 2011, she participated in an exchange program that took her to the Conservatorium in Amsterdam for a semester. She went on to study at Indiana University for her Master of Music degree, and the Juilliard School, where she studied with Cynthia Roberts, Monica Huggett, Elizabeth Blumenstock, and Robert Mealy; she earned a Master's degree in historical performance practice and was awarded a Kovner Fellowship. Active in music competitions, McKay Lodge participated in the Concert Artists International, the Juilliard Historical Performance Concerto Competition, the Indianapolis Baroque Concerto Competition, Le Concours Corneille, the International Musica Antiqua Competition, and the International Indianapolis Baroque Concerto Competition. She has performed as concertmaster with Juilliard415, and appeared as a soloist with major orchestras and period ensembles. With Jeffrey Girton, Robert Warner, Keiran Campbell, and Adam Cockerham, McKay Lodge is a founding member of the ensemble Voyage Sonique, which is based in New York. Her first album, Beyond Bach and Vivaldi, was released in 2018 on the Naxos label.
