VIMIC
After 18 years as the drummer of Slipknot, Joey Jordison parted ways with the seminal American metal band and started VIMIC from the pieces of his former side project, Scar the Martyr. Along with Scar mates Jed Simon (guitar), Kyle Konkiel (bass), Matthew Tarach (keyboards), and Kris Norris (guitar), Jordison recruited Kalen Chase Musmecci as the vocalist for the new group. The sextet began recording their debut with Kato Khandwala (My Chemical Romance, Breaking Benjamin, the Pretty Reckless), creating a sound familiar to fans of Jordison's ballistic percussion with Slipknot mixed with a post-grunge, downtuned guitar sludge similar to Machine Head, Chevelle, and Volbeat. Their first single, "Simple Skeletons," was released in May 2016. Norris left the band soon after, as VIMIC released the follow-up "She Sees Everything." A third song, "My Fate," arrived in June, heralding the arrival of their debut LP, Open Your Omen (Roadrunner).
