Muddy Magnolias
Soulful folk-rock act Muddy Magnolias is a collaboration between Brooklyn native Jessy Wilson and Texas-born Kallie North. The two singer/songwriters came together somewhat serendipitously in 2014, when Wilson was visiting Nashville with her mentor, R&B singer John Legend. While demoing some new songs at the BMI office, she was drawn to a framed photo of a battle-scarred juke joint piano that had been taken by North. The two were eventually introduced and quickly struck up a musical partnership that melded Southern country and blues grit with a more urban rock style. They issued their debut single, "American Woman," in 2015, followed a year later by their first full-length, Broken People.
