Funda Arar
Anatolian pop singer Funda Arar was born in the Turkish capital of Ankara on April 8, 1975. Raised between Muğla and Adapazarı, she later attended Istanbul Technical University's music conservatory, choosing the mandolin as her primary instrument. In 2000, she broke into the mainstream with her studio debut Sevgilerde, an infectious collection of Turkish pop songs that included the hit single "Aysel." Preceded by tracks like "Seni Düşünürüm" and "Cesminaz" with Kıraç, the EP Sevgiliye appeared in 2001. Following the release of Alagül (2002) and Sevda Yanığı (2003), Funda Arar scored the biggest hit of her career with the platinum-selling Son Dans, which featured some of her most popular songs, including "Karartma Günleri," "Benim İçin Üzülme," and "Bu Sabah Güneş Doğmuyor." Released in 2008, her fifth album Rüya paid tribute to Turkish classical music and its varied melodic patterns with the help of conductor Yaşar Okyay. The award-winning Zamanın Eli arrived in 2009 and was followed by Aşkın Masum Çocukları (2011), Sessiz Sinema (2012), Hoşgeldin (2015), Aşk Hikayesi (2017), and Arabesk (2018). In 2022, "Al Sevgilim," a duet with singer Semicenk, reached Number 2 on the Turkish Top 100.
