Emile & Images

The trio Émile et Images was born from the meeting of the group Images and Gold singer Émile Wandelmer, and has continued the success of the two groups from which it borrows its repertoire. Formed in 1986, Images scored a major hit the following year with the dance track "Les Démons de minuit", which spent 13 weeks at the top of the Top 50. Reduced to a duo consisting of singer Mario Ramsamy (born in Mauritius in 1956) and drummer Jean-Louis Pujade, the Toulouse-based group was joined in 1999 by guitarist and singer Émile Wandelmer, who in turn led the Gold group, from the same region, to the top of the charts with the songs "Plus près des étoiles" (No. 2) and "Capitaine abandonné " (No. 1), among other chart hits. In 1987, the newcomer had already lent his voice to Images' song "Le Cœur en exil", which reached No. 6. Together, Émile and Images re-recorded their most emblematic hits for the album Jusqu'au Bout de la Nuit (1999), a double platinum album selling over a million copies (No. 1 in the charts), whose new version of "Démons de minuit " reached No. 12 in its 22-week run in the Top 50. The general public embraced the new group, who performed throughout France, releasing the live album À l'Olympia (2000), which reached No. 38. Two more albums followed, the original French Toujours Devant in 2003 (No. 69) and the English Disco Funk (2006), featuring covers of disco classics. In 2007, Émile et Images took part in the RFM Party 80 tour, which played the Palais omnisports de Paris-Bercy, and in the films Stars 80 (2012) and Stars 80, la suite (2017), produced and directed by Thomas Langmann. Since then, the trio have continued to perform on numerous occasions.
