Daniel Auteuil

French actor, director and singer Daniel Auteuil was born in Algiers, Algeria, on 24 January 1950. The son of opera singers, he grew up in Avignon and regularly went on tour with his parents, cutting his teeth as an actor in musical comedy before making his film debut in 1972. He spent the next two decades building a reputation as an award-winning actor, picking up the BAFTA for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Jean de Florette) in 1987, the European Film Award for Best Actor (A Heart in Winter) in 1993, the César Award for Best Actor (Jean de Florette) in 2000 and the European Film Award Best Actor (Caché) in 2005. He turned his attention to music in 1985, releasing the singles "Que la vie m'pardonne" and "T’es pas la femme du boulanger," featured in credits of the film L'Amour en Douce. "Ou elle est" and B-side "Tu m'as largué Florence" followed that same year but it would be decades until his next recording. Comeback album Si vous m'aviez connu arrived in 2021 and Si tu as peur, n'aie pa s peur de l'amour followed in 2023. That same year, he released the singles "les petites coupures" and "Je suis ton ami" with Salvatore Adamo.
