The Go Faster Nuns
With their energetic punk & roll, the Go Faster Nuns hail from Bamberg, Germany, playing a self-described brand of beatpunk that falls somewhere between the Who and Black Flag with a generous helping of Devo-esque melodies to boot. The quartet recorded its first self-titled single in the summer of 1999, releasing it to the praise of various German fanzines. A split single with Italy's Willy Wonkas followed in August 2000 before their debut full-length, Teenage Love Beats, appeared in 2001, again to the enthusiastic praise of the press. Their fan base continued to grow through exhaustive touring around Germany, Holland, Belgium, and Italy, as the Go Faster Nuns proved themselves on par with bands like Leatherface, Snuff, and the Turbo A.C.'s. Next hitting the studio for what became a considerable amount of time, the band -- vocalist/percussionist D.D. Windisch, drummer Rue del Gado, bassist Mr. Spaceboy, and guitarist T. van Guyzyfer -- eventually resurfaced with their punk-laced and dance-ready follow-up, Under Neon Light; it was released in March 2005 through Go Kart Records Europe and made its way to North American shelves a year later.
