Pedro Amorim

Influenced by Jacob do Bandolim, Pedro Amorim took the mandolin and dedicated himself to the choro genre. He debuted as a member of the Nó em Pingo D'Água, with which he recorded for the first time in a Funarte album dedicated to the centennial of João Pernambuco, in 1993. Forming with Maurício Carrilho and Paulo Sérgio Santos the O Trio, he recorded with them in the same year in Paris, France, the CD O Trio, which won two Sharp Prizes in the Instrumental Music category. Also, in Paris, he recorded the CD Samba de Bamba with Teca Calazans and O Trio. Having recorded his first solo CD, Pedro Amorim Toca Luperce Miranda, he recorded with Maria Teresa Madeira the CD Sempre Nazaré. As an instrumentalist, he has recorded with Beth Carvalho, Chico Buarque, and other artists, and as a composer he wrote songs with Paulo César Pinheiro, Nelson Sargento, Délcio Carvalho, Maurício Carrilho, and Zorba Devagar. In 1998, Amorim participated in the album Os Bambas do Bandolim, with Déo Rian, Ronaldo do Bandolim, Joel Nascimento, Reco do Bandolim, Hamilton de Holanda, Jorge Cardoso, Rossini Ferreira, and Isaías Bueno. In 2001, he participated in the national panel of the choro genre Brasileirinho, O Choro de Um Século Depois, at the Bank of Brazil Culture Center (Rio), playing with Maurício Carrilho, Jorginho do Pandeiro, Luciana Rabello; and with the guest musicians from Pernambuco, Henrique Annes and Jacaré.
